T-Minus 1 Day: Everything is looking solid
July 10, 2019 (1 day out)
We are leaving in roughly 24 hours for a trip that, to me, will be epic. And I cannot wait! I did a little more packing last night, probably about halfway there – I got my left pannier pretty full. That one houses most of the things I don’t anticipate using much…tools, rain gear, extra water bottle, extra jacket and hoodie, etc. The things I know I could need but hopefully won’t as often. The things from that bag I think I’ll use are set right on top for quick access, but they’re not typically items I will have to carry in and out of the hotel rooms.
My tank bag is also pretty stuffed, just missing my main water in there. It houses three pairs of gloves, a beanie, microfiber towel, light weight neck/lower face gaiter, ratchet strap, bungee cord, net style bungee, din plug to USB adapter, various charging cables, allergy pills, and an amethyst stone that an ex-co-worker gave me some time ago as a sort of protectant that has now forever been housed there. It also is cool since my favorite color is purple.
Still to get packed are the right pannier and trunk…which will get done tonight after I do some laundry. I am thinking that my trunk gym bag will be best for carrying the sort of nightly items, extra skivvies, socks, etc. Anything I will use to live of for a few days at a time without having to take the larger right pannier liner bag out as frequently. The right pannier is where the rest of the clothing I’ll carry for the trip will live. I’m pretty sure I’ll have some extra space in both of these locations too should I pick up some souvenirs and gifts and such along the way.
Also on the agenda tonight is to shave and cut my hair…I can grow quite the afro and it gets hot, uncomfortable, and very unruly in a hurry so it’s best to trim up as close to trip departures as possible.
