T-Minus 5 Days: Final Maintenance
July 5, 2019 (5 days out)
I got up this morning feeling great, ready to tackle the final bits of what was left accomplish on the bike! So I poured a cup of coffee, and still in my lounging comfy clothes (my typical morning garage attire) I wandered out to the shop while it was still cool out and flushed all the brakes with new fluid…and let me tell you, it was definitely time! The front fluid was kind of gnarly but still “acceptable” by some standards. The rear fluid however was another matter entirely! It was dark brown and generally terrible looking. I’m not sure why it was so much worse but oh well, it’s nice and clear now all the way through the lines!
I also broke out the GS-911, plugged it in and let it update itself since it’s been about a year since I last used it. Then it was on to running a quick diagnostic to find zero fault codes. Not that expected any different, but it was just good to see. Then reset the service light since I’ve gone through and done everything now that I was planning on, and viola! All ready to go!
I took the bike out for a spin to the gym and back – the brakes worked great (noticible difference with the front brake) and the service indicator was gone…so I think we’re ready for the trip!
