T-Minus 7 Days: Changing the trip route...slightly

Yep, you read that right, this morning based on a recommendation from a friend, we changed a portion of the trip ever so slightly to encompass more scenery.  I’m excited too because we’ll get to ride more of the Coastal Highway.  Here is what the NEW route looks like, avoiding Portland and instead going to Eugene:

We’re going to have some long days ahead, but we’re not in any rush other than not missing the last ferry on the 15th, so I think it’ll be quite enjoyable.  Good thing I booked rooms that could be cancelled so close to the trip!  This new route, based on my calculations, brings the mandatory trip total to exactly 4000 miles.  Obviously there will be more for going to dinner, small side routes to check stuff out, etc. but I think it’s cool how that worked out.

UPDATE:  The same friend who recommended this path change also just remembered that the same weekend we’re going into Eugene (Sunday) it’s also the Oregon Country Fair…and apparently it’s a shit show full of weirdos and that we’re going to absolutely love it…from afar.  It’s almost too bad we’ll be getting into town Sunday afternoon/evening and will likely miss the bulk of the insanity, but that also could be a blessing too, I just have no idea what to expect but I’m definitely excited for whatever comes our way!
