While the Cat's Away

Hello readers and moto lovers!  The boys just left on their trip so it’s time to hi-jack this blog.

As you are aware Bob and Kevin are currently in the beginning of their 4000+ miles of pavement pounding.  It should be a good one.  They’re going Denver to Minnesota for a couple days, then off to Cleveland to the Rock and Roll hall of fame, then to Nashville.

I’m confident there will be a few new firsts for they boys.  One will be be doing laundry on the road.  That being said…laundry on the road is what this story is about.

Approximately 36 years ago on my way back to Denver from Florid we stopped in Nashville to do said laundry.  Now keep in mind things were way different back then (before everyone got so sensitive).  First stop was for a six pack before heading off to find a quiet laundromat.  As ALL my clothes were dirty I did the best I could, so I put them all in the machine except the undershorts I was currently wearing. It was a peacefully evening sitting with a newspaper over my lap sipping on a couple brews. I had wait a little while for a gal to leave so I could put my clothes in the dryer. Had another beer and got dressed.  Folded my clothes and put them in the bike.  Then off to find a motel and dinner.  Not a big action story, but I wanted to relate to their trip with something you wouldn’t normally think of…and I haven’t written anything in a while.

I’m sure the boys will have a great time and take lots of photos. So be careful, have fun, and bring Old Al back something cool.

It’s pretty odd how I came into motorcycles as my father couldn’t stand them.  But as life moves on, things change. Now here I am, still riding. It’s been a long road, 55 years riding and 116 bikes later, and now writing a column for this site. What a long strange trip it’s been.
